Dextromethorphan Tablet for Temporary Relief of Cough

Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant used in tablet form to temporarily relieve cough caused by minor throat and bronchial irritation, such as that associated with the common cold. It is intended for use in adults and children 12 years and older.

This medication is used to temporarily relieve coughs due to minor throat or bronchial irritation. It is suitable for adults and children aged 12 years and older. It is not intended for use in children under 12 years of age.

Dextromethorphan Hbr

Dextromethorphan acts on the brain to suppress the cough reflex, reducing the urge to cough caused by irritation in the throat and airways.

Adults and children 12 years and over

Take 1 tablet every 6 to 8 hours as needed. Do not exceed 4 tablets in any 24-hour period.

Children under 12 years

Do not use.

• Use is contraindicated in patients currently taking monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 2 weeks of stopping MAOI therapy.

• Do not use if you are currently taking a prescription monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), or within 2 weeks of stopping such medication. If unsure whether your medication contains an MAOI, consult a doctor or pharmacist before use.
• Ask a doctor before use if you have a cough accompanied by excessive mucus or phlegm, or a persistent or chronic cough caused by smoking, asthma, or emphysema.
• Stop use and seek medical advice if cough persists for more than 1 week, recurs, or is accompanied by fever, rash, or persistent headache, as these may be signs of a serious condition.
• If pregnant or breastfeeding, consult a healthcare professional before use.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Do not use if the safety seal under the child-resistant cap is broken or missing.
• In case of overdose, get medical help or contact a Poison Control Center immediately.

Should not be used with prescription MAOIs due to risk of serious interactions.
